Our goal is to raise healthy, strikingly beautiful cats with gentle temperaments, big personalities, and bright futures in loving homes.
Coonicles Cattery
Thank you for checking out Coonicles Cattery! My name is Jay Lewis, and I raise my kittens with my husband and our two daughters. I’ve been breeding Maine Coons for about five years now, and can honestly say this is one of the best things I’ve ever done. We’re a small, cozy cattery in a small, quiet town, about two hours outside of NYC. As a stay at home mom, my kids and my kittens get all the love and attention they need to thrive. Our kittens are raised in a loving, boisterous environment, well socialized with the help of our ball-of-energy toddler and her partner in crime: our excitable mini-schnauzer, Sir Bruce.
We support our Maine Coons and their health by prioritizing high-quality, high-protein wet and dry food to ensure they reach their full growth potential in a healthy, natural way. We also aim to reduce the risk of respiratory issues in us and in our cats from dusty litter by using natural wood pellet bedding, which the cats enjoy, is better for the cats and the environment, and we don’t have to worry about the kittens ingesting it and getting sick.
Our cats enjoy their huge outdoor cat enclosure, where they are well-protected from other cats, but gain the benefits of exposure to outdoor environments, which strengthens their immune system and provides endless entertainment and stimulation. Watching birds eat at our strategically placed birdfeeders and spying on our chickens as they strut around the yard takes up a lot of their time, and they also have the opportunity to sunbathe or chase bugs around the enclosure, so they’re never bored!
My Maine Coons are my pride and joy; the Maine Coon is so unlike any other cat breed out there. I’ve been spoiled, and can never go back to domestic cats! Their big, unique personalities, easy-going natures, and unmistakable presence have spoiled me from ever going back to any other breed. Once you get yourself a Maine Coon, you’ll understand what I mean!
I’ve deeply involved myself in many different Maine Coon Breeder groups over the years, taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge and advice hundreds of other breeders can offer. If I ever run into a situation I’ve never encountered before, chances are someone in the breeding group has experienced it and can offer advice to help me get through it.
We’re a small cattery, with few litters that are often spaced far apart, and thus have limited kittens available. Feel free to reach out with any questions about our current or future litters!

When I’m not cleaning litter boxes, I spend my time homeschooling our kids, working in our huge garden where we try to grow most of our food, and designing luxury Greek Mythology inspired bath products that I sell on Etsy. Feel free to check out my shop!

In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano and violin, singing, reading books and writing my own. A few of my favorite book series include: The Underland Chronicles, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Percy Jackson series, A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and Harry Potter. I love a good action movie or drama, particularly one with a good romance (I’m a sucker for a good romance!), such as Lord of the Rings, the Supernatural series, House MD, Outlander, Stranger Things, Bridgerton, The Witcher, Arcane, The Old Guard, and Mad Max. I also enjoy video games with exceptional storylines, such as Mass Effect, The Last of Us, Far Cry 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Detroit: Become Human, and many others!
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Homeland Security with Applied Intelligence, with experience as an Analyst. My degree has offered me a lot of experience in research, which I’ve found invaluable as a breeder, along with my close relationship with my veterinarian. I spent some time in Alaska with the Alaska State Troopers, and can’t recommend the state enough! It was so incredibly beautiful, I would visit every year if I could! I went back again for my one year anniversary with my husband and we spent time whale watching, boating less than fifteen feet away from young brown bears, fishing for salmon, whale watching, and viewing a large variety of the wildlife that calls Alaska home. I absolutely cannot wait to go back. The wild, untamed look of the Maine Coon is the closest I can have to the wildness of Alaska here in NY, and that’s good enough for now!
