Coonicles Cattery - European Maine Coon Cats and Kittens in NY, PA, and NJ

Welcome! My name is Jay Lewis, I’m a TICA registered Maine Coon cat breeder in NY, selling sizeable European Maine Coon cats and kittens in a variety of colors; currently with an orange and white kitten for sale. I have a small litter due in the next few weeks, and I’m hoping to have white kittens available soon! I’ve been breeding European Maine Coons for years, now, but never stop learning new things about the breed!

Purebred Maine Coons can be insanely expensive, depending on what you’re looking for. You can find decently priced purebred Maine Coon kittens for sale on sites like GoKitty.com for around $2,500, but none of the sellers are vetted by the site, and there are many opportunities for scammers to take root.

The TICA offers a list of TICA registered breeders, separated by State, but many catteries will list their catteries in multiple states. You may click on a cattery listed in NY, only to find that it’s actually in Florida or even in Europe.

Every cattery’s pricing is different; some catteries will charge more for male kittens, others will base their price on color, but the price for an average Maine Coon kitten will range between $2,500-$4,000, with Polydactyl kittens usually around $4,500. High-quality cats for showing, or cats sold with Breeding Rights can be $5,000 or more. Maine Coons who have passed the “kitten” stage and also retired breeding cats are often less expensive, selling at around $1,500 or less.

Some of the rarest colors: pure white, silver, or gold, are highly sought after and will be more expensive.

The orange and the white Maine Coons are highly sought after for their brilliant coloring and chaotic personalities.

Many catteries will not list the price of their kittens directly on their site, preferring for those interested to complete an application form to be approved before a price is revealed, to ensure their kittens are going to good homes.

Maine Coons are famed for their size; as one of the largest domesticated cat breeds, people often inflate their size through picture editing and forced perspective. Sassy Koonz gives a great demonstration on how people will use forced perspective and editing tricks to make their Maine Coons look bigger, while also highlighting that breeders that breed for size over health may deal with more health problems, such as heart issues, hip dysplasia, and arthritis.

Maine Coons male cats, at maturity, can average 13-18 lbs. Maine Coon female cats average 9-13 lbs.
